Barcelona thrashed Real Madrid to win the first El Clasico fixture of the season by 4-0.
With Lionel Messi starting the match on the bench, the Catalan club got an early goal from Suarez to set the tone. It only took 11 minutes. It was a fine pass from Sergi Roberto through to the Uruguayan, who made no mistake with a calm finish into the far side. Then it was Iniesta who sent a little ball through to Neymar, who scored effectively just before the halftime whistle.
In complete control and with Cristiano Ronaldo doing pretty much nothing, Barcelona added two more in the second half. Messi was substituted on in the 57th minute as he saw his first action since his September knee injury. He helped to set up Suarez's fourth goal, completing the rout. Out of pure frustration, Isco would go on to pick up a red card between the goal and the end of the match.
Goals: Suarez (11', 74'), Neymar (39'), Iniesta (53')
