Make your Dropbox more Useful

Dropbox has become an essential application at syncing files between computers, but it has a lot more potential than just that. Dropbox is a simple file synchronization utility that stores data in the cloud and makes it accessible from anywhere across Windows, Mac, and Linux machines—or via the web interface from any browser. What sets Dropbox apart from other file syncing tools is that changes are nearly instantaneous, uploads are blazing fast, and it just works.

If you follow some little tricks, you can use Dropbox to do much more.

Make it your authentic "My Documents" folder

Many people facing some problems about Dropbox when the find that it's actually a separate folder, and they have to remember to put their documents there in order to have them be synced, rather than just specifying particular folders to sync. Instead of remembering, they can actually change their My Documents folder to be the same as their Dropbox folder, or be in a folder inside their Dropbox.

To do this in Windows 7 or Vista, just right-click on your "My Documents" folder and select Properties, then on the Location tab you can specify the new file path. In Windows XP it's pretty much the same process but you'll need to change the Target value instead. It's a simple "trick" but can come in handy if you want your whole documents folder synchronized instead of just the files that you specifically move to the Dropbox directory.

Start your Torrents from anywhere

Rather than wait until you get back home to start a download, you can start them remotely from anywhere. All you have to do is set your torrent client to monitor a folder in your Dropbox, and then add the torrent files to the folder remotely—you can even upload them through the web interface if you want. Most of the popular torrent clients, like uTorrent, support this feature, and while there are other ways to remotely start a download, this is certainly one of the easiest.

Synchronize your KeePass passwords

If you're really serious about security, you've already learned how to choose secure and memorable passwords and probably started securely tracking your passwords with a password manager like KeePass—an ideal candidate for using Dropbox as the ultimate password syncer.

Users who rely on KeePass to maintain a password archive of sites or services they use can combine it with Dropbox to have it accessible from multiple computers at all times. Simply save your database to Dropbox, and on any other computer that you plan to use KeePass on open the app and select File -> Open Database, then point it to the synced KeePass database file that you added to Dropbox.

KeePass doesn't automatically update your passwords when it's open, so if you make a change on one computer and then make a change on the other without re-opening the new database, you'll end up with a conflict. To get around this you'll have to set a reasonable timeout so the database is locked after a period of inactivity. Then head to Options and on the advanced tab check the box that says "Automatically save when closing/locking the database".

KeePass saves your password in an archive with AES 256-hit encryption. Even if Dropbox servers were to be hacked, as long as you pick a long, strong password you should be safe for a few thousand or million years.

These are just a few tricks you can use Dropbox to sync application data or share files. So, you can follow the tricks to make your Dropbox more useful.

“ Slow Eating, Waistline Shrinking ”

"Fear less, hope more; eat less, chew more; whine less, breathe more; talk less, say more; hate less, love more; and all good things will be yours.” – Dr. Mercola

One of the problems in our daily lives is that many of us rush through the whole day, with no time for anything and when we have time to eat, we gobble it down. It leads us to unhealthy living. Many scientific studies have explored that eating slowly and chewing food longer is beneficial. The benefits of slow eating include better digestion, better hydration, easier weight loss or maintenance, and greater satisfaction with our meals. There are lots of benefits also.

Better digestion

When you eat slower, you’ll chew your food better, which leads to better digestion. Digestion actually starts in the mouth, so the more work you do up there, the less you’ll have to do in your stomach. This can help lead to fewer digestive problems.

Enjoy your food

When you eat slowly, you end up tasting your food more. Eating slowly lets you experience more of the flavors, textures and smells of what you eat. Your food will become more interesting. And again, French experience. They focus more on the impression and less on the health effects of eating.

Lose weight

Some studies confirm that just by eating slower, you’ll consume fewer calories — in fact, enough to lose 20 pounds a year without doing anything different or eating anything different. The reason is that it takes about 20 minutes for our brains to register that we’re full. If we eat fast, we can continue eating past the point where we’re full. If we eat slowly, we have time to realize we’re full, and stop on time.

Insulin resistance:

Japanese researchers found that eating fast is associated with insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is a silent condition that increases the chances of developing diabetes and heart disease. Also, fast eating seems to be a risk factor for the metabolic syndrome (combination of the symptoms such as high blood pressure, obesity, and insulin resistance).

Heartburn & Gastroesophageal reflux:

Rapid eating may cause acid reflux. It may be especially true for people suffering from GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease).

Mindful Mastication: Nourishing Your Body and Soul

What about eating as a form of meditation? "Mindful eating" is a rapidly growing movement that not only focuses on slow eating, but turns food into, well something like to a "religious experience." The mindful eating trend has made its way into some big-time corporations.
What's on your mind while you're eating may be as important as what you're eating. Do you worry about the origins of your food, the farmers who brought it to you, the chicken that gave its humble life for your nourishment? It's a lot about gratitude.

Mindful eater converts report that it's harder than it sounds... putting down your fork and tuning inward isn't always easy. Of course, mindfulness can be applied to anything you're doing—eating is just one daily activity that may benefit from this approach. It is at least food for thought. The bottom line is, slow down, and chew more... talk less. Savoring your food and everything it brings will undoubtedly benefit your mind, body, and spirit!

High Quality Images mean Higher Sales Conversions

According to a study, 50% of online customers say that High quality images provide customers all he necessary information's which help customers to take buying decision. This is a grand news for online retailers. Online retailers use the Internet to reach a broader audience in order to promote and sell products. Customers now expect a quality online hopping experience. A website that is poorly invented and poorly designed will yield poor results. An experiment showed that the number one criterion for deciding the authenticity of the presented material was the website’s design. The quality of images can make or break the design of a site – having a direct effect on the brand’s reputation.

Composition, clarity, brightness, resolution, strong contrast between foreground and background as well as a clean and uniform background are just some of the factors which defines an image as a good one. The biggest names on the web have some minimum requirements to make sure they are optimal for high resolution displays. Some useful ways which boost the conversion rate by using images throughout your website are given below---

Emotions Rule

Many people buy for emotional reasons. If you make them feel just right, they’ll take action. The same rule applies when choosing images for your site. A positive image brings out positive emotions. It could be a smile, a smirk or a gesture. Customers know what you’re trying to convey. Make them feel good, happy, proud, wanted. They’ll agree with you and connect better. The perks of leveraging emotions can be very powerful, and it will work.

Give Images A Human Touch

Using human faces boost your website’s conversion rate. They get your prospects to focus more and this causes them to draw towards a common point of interest.

Consider Using A Mascot

Site mascots are highly popular now-a-days. Websites and blogs are using them for branding. They are being used to create a bonding experience with the customers and can solidify marketing motif. The sites create a strong image in their audience’s mind.

Show Validation

Customers don’t want to make a wrong decision. They want to be convinced before buying anything. If your website has pictures of your happy customers, your conversion grows. It’s a natural process that will never change. Add a dash of testimonials along with their pictures and voila – chances are your conversion rate will automatically go up.

Don't Exercise Bad Stock Photos

The 90’s are gone. The web 1.0 era has ended. This is the social age of the Internet. People don’t look at the web like they used to. They’re more connected than ever and educated. People can tell if you’ve used a cheesy stock photos.

They used to be a rage back then, but not now. Your prospects will know you’re trying to fool them with people shaking hands in suits. So in order to get a higher conversion rate today, you need to do the opposite. Choose stock photos intelligently – even if you have to spend more money.
Your site has to look professional enough to convert better. If the stock photos you go for look obvious, you get a thumbs down from your visitors. Not good. Your aim should be to send a positive message to your audience. Be smart and go for stock photos that you know will be right for your site, in every way.

Persuading your online customer to buy is only possible if they find their way to your site in the first place. Optimizing your images for search engines is crucial for e-commerce success. Making sure you name your images descriptively is just the beginning. Using the right alt tags is often overlooked and can cost you high rankings.

Another critical factor for SEO success is image file size. Page loading times can make or break your site as both Google and the customer will punish your site if it takes too long to load. Especially with the dominance of mobile devices loading speed simply can’t be ignored. Thumbnails are notorious for causing slow performance as they are often overlooked when optimizing image file sizes.

Investing in high quality product images definitely has a positive effect on your e-commerce success. Online customer expectations are quickly evolving and having the right images on your site is essential. Making sure they are high quality, presented in a consistent way and are optimized for SEO is no longer optional but mandatory.

The First X-Men: Apocalypse Trailer

The X-Men: Apocalypse trailer is out today.
The film is something of a turning point for the X-Men movie franchise since it marks both the end of the X-Men: First Class Trilogy (and perhaps the final Bryan Singer X-Men film) while also introducing us to a new generation of X-gene stars. There are a slew of faces that include both the returning James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult, as well as the newcomers Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, and Alexandra Shipp.

X-Men: Apocalypse is the standardbearer for the new generation of mutant based films since it's sandwiched between two other fresh faces for the series: February's Deadpool and the delayed but still coming Gambit. And with Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, and Alexandra Shipp taking on the roles of traditional leading X-Men like Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm--noticeably during the same time that Hugh Jackman has made it clear that the untitled Wolverine 3 will be his last appearance as the character.

The X-Men: Apocalypse is slated to debut on 27 May 2016.

Tarzan again, but ...

Popular comic character Tarzan returns to the big screen again. Swedish actor 'Alexander skarasagardake' will be seen as the king of the forest in "The Legend of Tarzan", Directed by David Yates. First glimpse of the film has seen recently where 'Margot Robbie' is playing the character of "Jane porter".

Legend takes a different approach to Tarzan than Burroughs’ 1910s writings, the 1930s Johnny Weissmuller movies and other pop-culture adaptations that focused on the man being raised by simians and becoming lord of the jungle. Instead, the movie finds John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, a decade removed from his home in the Congo and fully entrenched as a British gentleman in 1880s Victorian London, with his beloved wife Jane (Margot Robbie) by his side.

He’s left his African home behind — his early days are seen in flashbacks — but is constantly reminded of his earlier exploits and gets invited back as an emissary of Parliament. While hesitant at first, Tarzan eventually returns to the Congo, old friends as well as Jane are put in serious danger, and his latest cliff-jumping, vine-swinging story kicks off from there.
Alexander SkarsgĂ„rd said this about the movie,
"It's almost the opposite of the classic tale, where it's about taming the beast. This is about a man who's holding back and slowly as you peel off the layers, he reverts back to a more animalistic state and lets that side of his personality out."
The Legend of Tarzan cast also includes 'Djimon Hounsou' as "Chief Mbonga", 'Samuel L. Jackson' as the true-life adventurer "George Washington Williams" and 'Christoph Waltz' as the Belgian villain "Captain Leon Rom".

The Legend of Tarzan is slated to debut on July 1st, 2016.

Cuttlefish can repel sharks

Cuttlefish have an identical stealth ability that allows them to escutcheon their electric fields from sharks.

The creatures were already known to be preceptors of masquerade. Now scientists have discovered they also employ undersea electronic countermeasures to escape being discovered and eaten. Sharks, one of the cuttlefish's main antagonists, home in on faint bioelectric fields generated by the bodies of their prey which they pick up using sensitive detectors on their snouts.

A common cuttlefish at rest generates a bioelectric potential of 10-30 microvolts, which is about 75,000 times weaker than an AAA battery. But the scientists found that when the animal feels threatened it freezes and drops the current down to about six microvolts. It does this by covering body openings, the main source of the electric field, with its arms and breathing more gradually.
In the tests at Duke University in the US, captive cuttlefish in a tank were shown videos depicting the menacing silhouettes of a shark or predatory grouper fish. They responded by reducing their electric fields - but ignored the shadow of a harmless crab.

The scientists, led by Dr Christine Bedore, wrote in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B: "The reduction of bioelectric fields created by the freeze-simulating stimulus resulted in a possible decrease in shark predation risk by reducing detectability."

"The freeze response may also facilitate other non-visual cryptic mechanisms to lower predation risk from a wide range of predator types."

'Son of Krypton vs Bat of Gotham'

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" Trailer#2 has come.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be the first big-screen adventure ever that brings both Batman and Superman together. We learned from director Zack Snyder at this year's Comic Con that Batman's Gotham and Superman's Metropolis are "twin cities" separated by a bay, similar to San Francisco and Oakland. It has also been confirmed that part of the destruction in 2013's Man of Steel spilled over into Gotham, destroying Wayne Tower, which helps set up the conflict between these two heroes. Man of Steel stars Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent) and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) return for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which introduces a slew of new characters. Gal Gadot stars as Wonder Woman, alongside Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred and Holly Hunter in a role created specifically for this movie. Other supporting cast members include Jena Malone, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Tao Okamoto and Scoot McNairy

PHOTOSHOP vs LIGHTROOM

What is Photoshop?

Photoshop is an image editing software developed and manufactured by Adobe Systems Inc which has many functions and capabilities to make up graphic designers, architects, animators, publishers, photographers and also 3D artists. It allows users to manipulate, crop, resize, and correct color on images.

What is Lightroom?

Post-processing is an unavoidable and inseparable part of professional photography now-a-days. Because of that, choosing the right software tool for post-processing the work efficiently is as important as having the right camera and lens combination for the job. Lightroom is the essential tool for organizing, editing, and sharing your photography. The full name for Lightroom is “Adobe Photoshop Lighroom”, which may sound confusing, because it contains the word “Photoshop”.

Similarities:

At the core level both programs do essentially the same thing, edit images. If somebody is simply looking for software that will help to alter, tweak, and enhance photographs, either one will suffice. Both software are capable of handling multiple file types such as: JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and a perennial favorite of many photographers, RAW. Both programs have similar controls and editing options when doing things like adjusting saturation, working with curves, and correcting for lens distortions. These two programs are quite powerful image editors. Both the programs feature an extensive set of editing and manipulation tools allowing to do everything from; basic edits like cropping and adjusting exposure, to advanced alterations such as working with brushes, tone curves, and graduated filters.

Difference between Photoshop and Lightroom:

  • File Handling: One of the most important ways in which Lightroom is different from Photoshop is that it does not actually edit photos, nor does it move your images around to different locations on your computer. Instead all the changes you implement are kept in a separate file called the Catalog, which is sort of like a recipe book of instructions for how each photo should be processed. When you apply some type of edit, like a radial filter or adjustment brush, Lightroom is essentially keeping a log of the alterations in a database, while leaving the original image intact. This process is called nondestructive editing, which stands in stark contrast to how Photoshop operates.
  • Editing Tools: Lightroom is kind of like an all-terrain-vehicle you might see on some farms. It’s fast, nimble, and can be used for a variety of tasks like hauling small objects and towing little trailers. But it simply cannot match the sheer power of a massive farm truck when it comes to getting big, serious jobs done like transporting massive bales of hay, pulling a horse trailer, or ploughing through mud and snow. Photoshop contains a dizzying array of filters, brushes, and other tools that allow you to perform all manner of edits and changes to your images. But more than that, Photoshop operates by letting you create different layers on which your edits actually take place. For example, the image on the right shows the various layers I used to edit the image of the statue, and each layer can be edited independently of the others. This might look like a lot, but it is not uncommon for a digital artist to use dozens of layers when editing an image. Lightroom, by contrast, works in a much more linear fashion with no layers, fewer editing tools and less overall flexibility. Both programs contain a history panel that lets you step back in time to any of your edits, but working with layers gives you infinitely more control over exactly how you edit your image.
  • Workflow: End-to-end workflow solution is a special option of Lightroom. Since it is designed specifically to address the needs of photography enthusiasts and professionals, it handles everything from importing photos from your memory card, to organizing, editing, sharing, and finally printing them. Lightroom has support for keywords and virtual folders to help you keep track of your images, and you can even use it to create a slideshow or photo book. Many photographers, even professionals, will go weeks or months without ever opening Photoshop, because Lightroom takes care of everything they need. On the other end of the spectrum is Photoshop which doesn’t transfer files, won’t organize your images, and certainly can’t make slide shows or photo books. But again, it’s all about the tradeoffs you are willing to accept. Nothing else can even come close to Photoshop in terms of sheer editing power.
